Garlic

Bulbs can be planted in the spring or fall. Largest bulbs are produced from fall planting. Garlic can take 2-3 seasons of growing and replanting before cloves become fully acclimated to your growing conditions. On average, 6 bulbs will plant about 10 to 15 feet of row. Separate garlic into cloves just before planting. Do not allow it to freeze before planting. After separating the garlic bulb into traditional cloves, plant the cloves 5" apart in well-prepared and well-draining soil in a sunny location. Plant deeply enough so that the tips are 2" below the surface. Mulch lightly in areas where winter temperatures fall below 0°F. Garlic will be ready to harvest the following summer.
