These varieties are especially sweet. All are hybrids containing the sh2 endosperm gene which has been around since 1956 and has created a sweet corn revolution. The conversion of sugar to starch is considerably slower both on the stalk and after picking. Seeds have a shrunken gene that enhances sweetness, but seed must have warmer soils to germinate well. Requires isolation by at least 250' in each direction, or by 2-3 weeks' time. Cross-pollination will seriously affect the eating quality. Wait to plant seeds until the soil has reached 60° to 65°F. For best results, sow seeds thickly and shallow at 3/4 to 1" deep. Thin plants as needed after emergence.
