Kohlrabi Seeds

Kohlrabi, an interesting-looking member of the cabbage family, is a cool-season crop that is best planted in late winter to early spring to ensure they mature prior to the onset of hot weather, or planted as a fall crop for more reliable production. Sow Kohlrabi seeds 2 in. apart and cover lightly (1/4 in.) with starting mix or vermiculite and water in. Once seedlings appear, thin to 4-6 in. spacing depending on the variety. Kohlrabi is a quickly maturing crop at only 50-60-days if plants are mulched and kept consistently watered. Since they are considered healthy feeders, prior to sowing or transplanting, amend the soil with 2-4 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. with Old Truck Organics Tomato & Vegetable 5-3-3 fertilizer (found on pages 37 and 50).
