Pumpkin Seeds

Plant pumpkins in full sun, with plenty of space for good air circulation, in late spring to early summer. Prior to planting, amend the soil with ample organic matter and add needed 10-10-10 fertilizer. To ensure soil temperatures are warm enough for consistent germination, lay down the black plastic or black weed barrier 3-4 weeks prior to planting pumpkin seeds or plants. Sow 5 to 6 seeds in hills 6 to 8 feet apart. Thin to the strongest two plants on each hill, after emergence.
