Pepper Seeds

Since pepper seeds have a hard seed coat, soaking them for 8 hrs. prior to sowing is beneficial. Sow indoors, starting 8 to 10 weeks before transplanting outdoors once nighttime temperatures are above 45°F. Plant seeds in trays of pre-moistened starting mix, 1/2 in. deep, 1 in. apart. Place trays onto heat mat with consistent bottom heat of 75°-85°F and cover with plastic dome or wrap, keep moist. When seedlings are about 1 1/2 in. tall with 2-3 sets of true leaves, then transplant them into Jiffy® Pots with moistened potting soil. After 1-2 week, fertilize seedlings once per week with ALGOPlus All-purpose 6-6-6 liquid food at 1/2 label dilution rate. Harden off seedlings for 7-10 days prior to planting out into the garden.
