Odd shaped fruits turn from light green to brown with a creamy custard-like texture and delicious, sweet, banana-like flavor. An interesting ornamental native fruit tree with a pyramidal shape. Slow growing, maturing to 20 to 25 feet, but can be kept smaller if pruned. Has large, 12 inch, tropical looking leaves. Fruits can be as large as 1 pound, ripen in September and are high in protein, and Vitamins A and C. Prefers moist, slightly acidic soil and shade to partial shade. Plant two trees for proper pollination. We offer well-rooted, small potted trees.
